TWO ETA MENBERS ARRESTED IN FRANCE DECLARE THEY ARE MEMBERS OF THE NEGOTIATION TEAM AND THAT WERE WORKING ON THE PEACE PROCESS NEGOTIATION WITH SPANISH GOVERMENT

BOTH WERE ARRESTED LAST NIGHT IN PERIGOUD FRANCE.

JON IURREBASO AGED 51 AND KEPA MIRENA SUAREZ AGED 47 WERE ARRESTED DRIVING A CAR.

Spanish Interior minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said more arrests are not ruled out. Five of the arrests were carried out in the Basque towns of Andoain, Donostia, Idiazabal, Oion and Uharte-Arakil.

The Spanish Interior minister, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, confirmed that eight people were arrested in a "wide" operation carried out by the Civil Guard that is still open and targeted ETA's infrastructure.

In a short appearance in Congress, Perez Rubalcaba apologised for the few details he could unveil, but insisted more arrests are not ruled out. "I can say nothing else," he said.

Thus, he didn't confirm if the operation targets the Donosti cell, as antiterrorist sources affirmed.As the association in defence of Basque prisoners (Askatasuna) confirmed, Joseba Lerin was arrested in Andoain, Juan Carlos Herrador in Donostia-San Sebastian, Endika Zinkunegi in Oion, Iñigo Orue in Idiazabal and Lorea Irigoienen in Uharte-Arakil.
